Answer

The ipod video supports AAC, Protected AAC from the itunes store, Mp, Mp VBR, Audible, Apple Lossless, AIFF and WAVbrI have also gotten it to use Ma files and Mp. If you want to use Mp files, rename their extension to ma.brbrFiles such as ogg and flac are not supported and the former can crash itunes.brbrSongs can be loaded on the ipod using itunes, but other programs have plugins to make it work..Winamp has a plugin for example.brHowever, itunes is the recommended player to use and it is certainly the most straightforward.brbrYou can download music legally and illegally. Legally you pay for the songs from the itunes music store, illegally you can use PP programs and bittorrent.brIf you are going to do it the illegal way, try to avoid programs like kazaa and limewire as they are rife with viruses, if you must use these, use your head and scan the files you DL with an antivirus program before using.brbrItunes can rip any CD you currently own to your harddrive, which you can then put straight onto your ipod. This process is also pretty easy. If you arent familiar with bitrates, remember that kbs is basically CD quality, anything lower will lose quality. Quality loss is not always noticeable, especially with the ipods default headphones. I would suggest to NEVER go below though.brbrI recommended reading the manual to find out how to work everything, but I can tell you this It is quite easy. Apple tends to try and make their programs as user friendly as possible.brbrOne warning though Itunes for windows is a pretty heavy program. If your computer does not have a lot of ram, you will be seeing a lot of slowdown.
